The price on the page is just the tip of the iceberg.
You’ve picked the product. You’ve found the seller offering the lowest price. You’re getting the best deal, right?
Wrong. There are countless ways to reduce your out-of-pocket cost beyond the price you see on the product page. But these savings are scattered across the internet and offered by a variety of different providers.
The result? The lowest price doesn’t actually appear on a single page. Buyers need to find all of the savings opportunities manually.

Why this is hard
Finding the savings is the first step. The hard part is figuring out how to combine them.
Savings opportunities are riddled with complicated rules:
- Some can be combined; others can’t
- Some offer a fixed discount; others a percentage; others a free gift with your purchase
- Some offer different rewards by product category or brand
- Some require a minimum purchase amount; others place a limit on the maximum reward
- Some are only available to certain customers; others are available to everyone
The list goes on…
A single purchase can have hundreds of possible paths, and finding the best one can take hours - even for experienced savings gurus.
Pareto tests all of them in seconds.
Example: an LG C4 OLED TV at a $1,599 product price plus $135.92 tax, $1,734.92 in total. A 5% coupon, a 2% cashback portal, a gift card bought 2.5% under face value and a 2% cashback credit card combine to $1,541.87, saving $193.05. A $100 coupon was excluded, and two higher-rate cashback portals were dropped because they conflict with the coupon and the gift card. The credit card earns 2% on what is actually spent, which drops from $32.96 to $32.14 once the payment goes to the gift-card seller rather than the merchant.
When other things matter
The best price isn’t always the best option.
Sometimes, factors other than price matter when making a purchase. A lower price may come with hidden “costs”, such as slower delivery, a less generous return policy, or limited protections.
